Personally, I think if Atticus did tell Scout about rape I don't think she would fully understand. Scout is an extremely smart girl but Atticus's position might be too hard for Scout to realize how big of a deal defending Tom Robinson is. I think Jem is able to understand the whole situation now, but with Scout I think that if she does come to understand it will be over time.

Come on Nat! Ciara's question is great. I think she is so young that it's ok for Atticus to tell her--it's like explaining physics to a rock. No harm done!
