TKAM Discussion Question

1.) Hosted by ? Pg 253: “. . . whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash.” Why does the last word come crashing down on the kids’ ears? Look at the context for other clues.

TKAM Paragraph Continued..

The courtroom that is filled with tension becomes more of a dark closet consumed of guilt. Atticus, who is giving everything he has to prove Tom Robinson innocent, is trying to convince the jury to do what is right. At the beginning of Atticus's opening remarks he states, "To begin with, this case should never have come to trial." Although most people knew what the truth was and who was innocent, they went against it all, and sat there and listened to a trial that was already settled. The guilt that filled each and everyone's mind ran on top of what they knew was the right and wrong, and they knew the case should have never came to trial.

Comments-

Amy- Really nice job! I don’t really see any mistakes except that if you wanted you could break up some of those sentences-make more, and smaller ones. Um….. nothing really. Guilt is the thesis? That’s good. Sweet job C!

Yeah that’s a great paragraph now you could just go through and add more details to make things a little clearer but honestly you probably don’t need to much of that because I think this is a great paragraph.~Jess~

You did a really good job with your paragraph. I seems that you really thought about it, I thought it was good how you described the courtroom as a dark closet filled with guilt. There isn’t really any mistakes that I see. Good Job!

Journal entry/11-6

Wow! This weekend was extremely exciting! Friday since we had no school, I slept in, and pretty much laid around the house the whole morning. That afternoon I had a hair appointment with my mom, so we went and got our hair cut. After the appointment Jess and Nic came over to my house to hang out. We stayed there for awhile talking to my family, then we went over to Jess's house. Over there we watched a few movies, and then she made me some cd's. Saturday was the best day of the weekend. It was the football playoff game against Rocksprings. I was so nervous before the game started, but when we started play it was just fun watching our team kill the Tigers. The final score was 38-6. All this meaning that we are in the state championship game in Cheyenne on Saturday! At the game there were tons of people from everywhere. I saw a bunch from the Valley and Greenriver. After the game some of the Greenriver guys that were at the game came over to Halsey's to hang out with us for awhile. Oh, it was great fun! Especially because my crush was there! That night Halsey, Whitney, and I all hung out with a bunch of different people, it was a blast! Sunday I came home from Halsey's and I was so tired. I ended up going to Park City with my parents and slept the whole way down there, the whole time we were there, and the whole ride home. When I got home, I did some more sleeping. Monday, I slept in even longer than Friday and played guitar hero for most of the morning. That afternoon I went to the rec to play basketball with some friends, then went over to my aunt's house for awhile. This was by far the best weekend of the year, but it went by so fast, and now I'm stuck back here at school counting down the days till I leave for Cheyenne for the state football game =]!!!
